Season’s Poem – Patrinia

Sometimes it rains on weekends.  Sometimes I have something else to do.  So these days, unfortunately, I have not had a chance of walking & biking.  This happens from time to time.  So I decided to write about Japanese short poems waka to explain our culture to describe nature and our feelings.

Tiger Fish on the Roof

In many cases, the roofs of castles have fish-like statues on the top.  They are called Shachi Hoko.  Shachi is a killer whale but Shachi Hoko, I think, is different.  Wikipedia says that its body is a fish and its head is a tiger so Shachi Hoko is an imaginary animal.
