Photo of the Day – Harajuku Station

Harajuku Station of Yamanote Line in Tokyo is the oldest station made of wood.  Looks cute, doesn’t it?  Nowadays, many oversea visitors come here to visit Takeshita Dori Avenue which is a popular shopping street with Tokyo fashion, foods and various goods.

However, this lovely-looking station building is in danger.  It is going to be torn down due to its aging structure.  From the landscape perspective, I hope they will preserve the building.  This station was built in 1924.

The current Emperor uses Tokyo Station when he travels by train but his predecessors used Harajuku Station so this station has special platform for the royal family.
